FAQ’s and Tips for your Pool

Description text goes hereVinyl pool liner replacement in San Diego typically start around $5500 depending on pool size, shape, depth, and underlying structural condition. Pools that require wall repair, track replacement, or skimmer work could add on significant extra costs. The most accurate way to price a liner is an on-site inspection because every pool ages differently.
-
A properly installed vinyl pool liner typically lasts 8–10 years nationally, but in San Diego many last longer due to mild weather conditions. Lifespan depends heavily on installation quality, water chemistry, and whether underlying structural issues were addressed before installation. (*** please add something that ties into pool school and our proprietary measuring and installation techniques***) (although the national average is 8-10, ours tends to be 10-13 because we educate the customer with pool school etc)

Almost Never! Many vinyl pool leaks, especially pinhole leaks, can be detected and repaired without draining the pool. Specialized techniques and equipment allow technicians to locate leaks from the pool deck or underwater. Draining is only required in more complex cases involving structural or plumbing issues.
-
Longer liner lifespan comes from addressing the underlying structure before installation. Repairing damaged walls, track systems, and skimmers prevents stress points that cause premature failure. Proper installation techniques and material selection also contribute to extending liner life beyond typical expectations…. *** but mainly because of our pool school*** add this in to really show we dont just slam dunk liners but care about their future.
-
Vinyl liners are available in multiple thicknesses, commonly 20 mil and 27 mil, with a wide range of colors and patterns. Thicker liners offer increased durability, while pattern selection allows homeowners to customize the pool’s appearance. We believe in doing things once and doing them right, this is why we exclusively sell and install only 27 mil liners.
-
Most vinyl liners come with a manufacturer-backed warranty that covers defects and seam issues over a prorated period. Installation workmanship is also covered separately.

The following tips will help increase the lifespan of your liner.
Never ever use chlorine tablets in a floater, feeder or skimmer. There is no friendly way to use tablets in a vinyl pool.
Never drain a vinyl pool below the bottom of the skimmer. It can shorten the lifespan and/or ruin your liner.
To change water, add new water at the same time and speed as removing the old water.
Never let your pool overflow during rain or while adding water to the pool. It can cause your liner and foam padding to float, potentially ruining the liner and/or damaging the subsurface.
Sodium Dichlor granular is friendlier chlorine for vinyl liner pools. Predissolve before adding to pool.
Never use calcium hypochlorite granular chlorine in a vinyl pool. (It is often sold as a shock treatment.)
The best shock treatment for vinyl pools is non-chlorine oxidizers like monopersulfates.
Keep chlorine level between 1.0 and 1.5 PPM. Not over 2.0 PPM. Never use gas chlorine. It can void liner warranty
Liquid Chlorine should not be used as your primary Chlorine. It can make the vinyl brittle over time.
Using liquid chlorine every 4th time can be beneficial. It can slow down over-conditioning.
PH is very, very important. Keep it between 7.2 and 7.6. PH should be check weekly or more often.
Never use manual vacuum heads with wheels. Only use ones with plastic bristles.
Only use cleaning equipment that is designed for vinyl pools. Using the wrong tools can harm liner.
Check equipment often for rough edges or chips. Most holes in liners are caused by cleaning tools.
Holes in liners must be repaired underwater by using vinyl pool repair kits or call ABCO.
Lifespan and Beauty of your liner can be vastly reduced by improper water chemistry.
Keep waterline clean. Only use a soft sponge or a soft cotton cloth and a drop of dish soap and rinse.
Do not use tile and vinyl cleaner or anything abrasive. It can harm the clear U.V. coating on the liner.
